THE COMING OF THE MESSIAH KING & THE KINGDOM POSTPONED
70 WEEKS PROPHECY

(1 BIBLICAL WEEK IS 7 YEARS; A BIBLCIAL YEAR IS 360 DAYS)

Daniel 9:24-27

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

JESUS CONFIRMS ENDTIME WARNING
Matthew 24

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

DECREE TO REBUILD
Ezra 7:11-13

11 Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes to Israel.

12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.

13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

FIRST DAY IN THE MONTH OF NISAN
Ezra 7:9

9 For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

THE COMING KING – PALM SUNDAY, 10TH of NISAN
Luke 19:37-38

37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

John 12:15; Mk 11:2-7; Matt 21:2-7; Luke 19:33-35

Jesus rides into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and is celebrated as King. Lamb selected for sacrifice. (Exodus 12:3)

Jerusalem – Spring A.D. 32, Sunday, 10th of Nissan.

This is the 69th week spoken of by Daniel and referenced in Matthew 24. It was exactly 173,880 days or 483 biblical years of 360 days. Beginning with the decree by King Artaxerxes on the 1st of Nissan (March 14, 445 BC) to the precise day Jesus rides on the colt 10th of Nissan (April 6, 32 AD). Julian dates are according to Robert Anderson and the British Royal Observatory.

69 WEEKS (7 WEEK + 62 WEEKS)
THE MESSAIAH REJECTED

After 69 weeks Jesus rides into Jerusalem. Yet on that Palm Sunday they failed to recognize their King. The Messiah is cut off (put t o death). And so, the King is rejected, and the Kingdom is postponed. Daniel 70th week is yet to be fulfilled. That last 70th week is reserved for End Times and will be specific to Israel to allow the nation to repent and finally acknowledge Jesus as Messiah.

Revelation

Israel repents. The Church and Israel enjoy the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ as King. Israel is restored to Jerusalem.

Zech 12:10

They shall look upon me whom they have pierced.

Romans 11:26

And so all Israel shall be saved:

PROPHECY SUMMARY
Original prophecy is 70 weeks or 70 x 7 = 490 years – Daniel 9:24, reserved for End Times.
The 69 week prophecy is referring to the Messiah’s first coming – Daniel 9:25, Palm Sunday.
The prophecy begins at the decree from King Artaxerxes to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, 1st Nissan, March 14, 445 BC, Ezra 7:11-13.
69 weeks (missing the 70th last week) is 483 years.
483 years x 360 (biblical year) = 173,880 days.
The 69th week (173,880 days) is 10th of Nissan, April 6, 32 AD – Palm Sunday.

MODERN CALCULATION

March 14, 445 BC – April 6, 32 AD is 476 years (minus year 0) x 365 years x 24 days (between March 14, 445 BC – April 6, 32 AD) + 116 leap years = 173,880 days.

Daniel’s Prophetic Timeline

Understanding The Seventy Weeks Of Daniel

The 70 Weeks study explores one of the most important prophetic timelines in Scripture. Daniel’s prophecy speaks about Israel, Jerusalem, the coming Messiah, the rejection of the King, and the final week that is still connected to end-time events.

This teaching helps believers understand how prophecy connects the Old Testament with the New Testament and why the promises of God remain faithful and sure.

The Coming Messiah

Daniel’s prophecy points forward to the coming of Messiah the Prince. The 69 weeks connect with Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, when He is presented as King.

Yet the people did not fully recognise Him. The Messiah was rejected, and the kingdom was postponed. This study helps believers understand why the final week of Daniel remains important for understanding prophecy, Israel, and the end times.

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city.”
Daniel 9:24

“Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord.”

Luke 19:38

From Decree To Fulfilment

A Prophecy Connected To Israel And Jerusalem

The 70 weeks prophecy begins with the decree to restore and build Jerusalem. The timeline moves from the decree of Artaxerxes to the coming of Messiah, connecting the 69th week to Palm Sunday.

This study shows that biblical prophecy is not separate from history. It connects dates, people, places, promises, and fulfilment. Through Daniel’s words, believers can see the faithfulness of God in His dealings with Israel and His plan for the world.

The final 70th week remains connected to future events. It points toward the end times, the tribulation, Israel’s repentance, and the return of Jesus Christ as King.

Why This Study Matters

Seeing God’s Promises Fulfilled

The study of the 70 weeks helps believers understand that God keeps His Word. His promises to Israel, His plan through the Messiah, and His prophetic timeline are not forgotten.

This teaching also helps clarify the distinction between Israel and the Church, showing how God’s promises remain faithful and sure. Israel was given promises of land, peace, and kingdom, while the Church is blessed spiritually through Christ. God’s promises will be fulfilled according to His Word.

For small groups, students, and leaders, this page provides a clear foundation for discussing prophecy without confusion and with Scripture as the guide.
