John 1:29
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world.”
Isaiah 53:3-5
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. [4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Passover (Pesach) begins at sundown, Nissan 14th. (Ex 12:6, Lev 23:5)
The Passover meal is eaten the next day, Nissan 15th. (Lev 23:6)
Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on the 15th day of Nissan with a sacred assembly. (Lev 23:7)

Jesus is arrested by the guards of the high priest. He was taken to Annas first, the father-in-law of Caiaphas the high priest. Jesus is then taken to the High Priest Caiaphas with all the chief priests, elders, and teachers of the law in the courtyard of the Sanhedrin. Jesus is accused of blasphemy. The charge is later changed to sedition and treason against Rome for claiming to be a king. They bound him and took Jesus to Pontus Pilate, the Roman Governor of Judea serving under Emperor Tiberius. Pilate pronounces this man Jesus is without fault. Pilate sends Jesus to Herod Antipas, son of Herod the Great. Herod Antipas ruled the province of Gailee as King of Judea – King of the Jews. (The same Herod that ordered the killing of all children under the age of two killed.) Herod’s soldiers beat him and sent him back to Pilate. The Jews yelled CRUCIFY HIM! Pilate allows the mob to choose Jesus to be Crucified according to feast day tradition. Barabbas is released. Jesus takes his place on the cross. Pilate surrenders Jesus to be crucified.

Jesus is crucified at the 3rd hour (9am) and dies the 9th hour (3pm). “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished;”. Jesus is the Lamb of God in His first incarnation. He is the perfect lamb set aside to be sacrificed for the sins of the world. Jesus is crucified at the exact same time as all Israel is sacrificing their Lambs for their Passover meal. Christ is our Passover Lamb. (John 1:29, 1 Cor 5:7) Golgotha (Outside Jerusalem city walls) – PREPERATION DAY Thursday, 14th of Nissan.
John 19:33 The lamb that was eaten during the Passover Feast was roasted with no bones broken. Roman soldiers broke the legs of the two others crucified with Jesus. Jesus had no bones broken.
John 19:34 Jesus is pierced by one of the soldiers. Ref: “and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced”, Zech 12:10
John 19:38; Mark 15:43 Joseph of Arimathea then takes Jesus down from the cross and placed in the tomb.
John 19:39 Nicodemus applies a mixture of myrrh and aloes to the body of Jesus. Then they wound His body with linen.
Matt 27:62-66 The chief priest and Pharisees convince Pilate to secure and seal the stone of the sepulcher. A watch is set. Friday, 15th of Nissan
John 19:40; Matt 27:62-66; Mark 16:1, Luke 23:56 Jesus’ body lays in the tomb; disciples come out of hiding and mourn openly. Jesus descends to the abode of the dead to set the prisoners free and to proclaim victory. Saturday, 16th of Nissan
John 20:1; Matt 28:1; Luke 24:1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed. RESURRECTION SUNDAY, 17th of Nissan
John 20:1-18; Matt 28:1-13; Mark 16:1-14; Luke 24:1-49 Multiple eyewitness accounts of Jesus having resurrected and the discovery of empty tomb. Many others are also resurrected.
Luke 24:21-27 On the third day while on the road to Emmaus from Jerusalem Jesus of Nazareth appears to confirm that Christ was to suffer according to the words of the prophets and to enter his full Glory.
John 20:19; Luke 24:27-53 Jesus encourages His disciples and says to them, “Peace be unto you”. He continues with the Gospel to the world, “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”; “And they worshipped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.”
John 21:17,19 Final words: “Feed my sheep.”; “Follow me.”
