BE OF GOOD CHEER

Just hours away before Jesus is taken, His disciple are given a final message of encouragement. For a brief moment their world will feel alone and empty as they see their Messiah die. Their hopes are lost. They will need to recall these words when they feel the full weight of discouragement.

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

John chapter 16 reveals these words. Jesus provides a message of overcoming. Jesus gives these men a real chance of peace even with times of tribulation.

There’s more. They will experience the full impact of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Their success becomes our example. The words of hope given them become ours in our time.

These are sweet words, “I have overcome the world”. Definitely, words to remember.
