Jesus attends the Feast of Tabernacles in this chapter. This was one of the three mandated feasts for all males to attend yearly. (Duet. 16:16). It was the joyous of all the feast. Israel was to gather in the grain and wine to rejoice for seven days. They were to live in booths to commemorate their time in the wilderness.
God the Father remains a prominent theme as the one who sent God the Son. This transition and relationship is not understood by the Jewish leadership. Those who would know the Father would be drawn to the Son.
The symbology of thirst and drink is repeated and is a profound statement to show that Jesus offers eternal life. The Holy Spirit is alluded to as the rivers of living water. Scripture often speaks in easy and relatable terms to point to a more magnificent theme of divinity and the trinity.
Jesus continues to teach doctrine. Some believe and some believe not.
